Summer Reading: Why NOT?

Summer:

The time of the year associated with heat, freedom, ice cream, and most importantly, no school.

So why are most students forced to read over the summer?

This odd action is commonly called "Summer Reading" and is considered by some to be blasphemy.

As you may notice, I only completed one book this summer, because summer is my time to relax, and not be forced to comply with the rules of school. Aside from summer reading being unnecessary, it is also very constrictive. A student is given a list of books they are allowed to read. Not only are we subjected to reading now twelve months of the year, bust e are being told what we can and cannot read.

This is a disgrace to the fundamental beliefs of America and clearly contradict two of our inalienable rights to liberty and the pursuit of happiness and I, Hailey Wynn, refuse to take part in such an unAmerican practice.
